U21 UNMDG Student Competitions and Awards

2013 - U21 UNMDG Student Poster Competition

The U21 UNMDG Strategic Committee is very pleased to announced the winners of the U21 UNMDG Student Poster Competition.

2013 winners:
  • Ahmad Samir (dentistry) University of Melbourne

  • Oscar Efrén Zazueta Fierro (medicine) and César Aguilera Bravo (biomedical engineering), Tecnologico de Monterrey



The competition aimed to raise awareness of the UN MDGs and engage students and academics in discussions and debates about the work of the United Nations in their regions. The topic of the competition was: "You have been asked by your university/faculty/college/school to market the UN MDGs among students and staff. To enter the competition, you will have to design a poster that you would use to raise awareness of the UN MDGs. You will also be asked to provide a short paragraph (no more than 1 page) explaining your marketing plan."

Both winners were awarded with a prize of $750 USD to send a representative to attend and present during the U21 UNMDG workshop in Dublin on 3 September 2013, as part of the U21 Health Sciences Annual Meeting.

2012 - U21 UNMDG Student Video Competition

The U21 UNMDG Steering Committee is very pleased to announced the winners of the U21 UNMDG Student Video Competition.

2012 winners:

The topic of the competition was "What is your university/faculty/school/student group doing or implementing to help achieve the United Nations Millennium Development Goals?", and it was opened to all undergraduate and graduate students across the U21 network.

Both groups were awarded with a prize of $750 USD to send a representative to attend and present during the U21 UNMDG workshop in Auckland on 3-4 September 2012, as part of the U21 Health Sciences Annual Meeting.

 

2011 - U21 UNMDG Photography Competition

In April 2011, the U21 UNMDG group launched the first U21 UNMDG Photography Competition. The competition was to encourage students undertaking UNMDG placements to share their experiences with other interested students and academics. In addition, the competition was also an opportunity to promote the U21 UNMDG initiative and to source images for the use of the U21 MDG 4 HEALTH website. The competition was opened to undergraduate and graduate health sciences students across the U21 HS network and three prizes of $500 USD towards travel expenses to attend and present during the U21 UNMDG workshop in Seoul were awarded.

2011 - U21 UNMDG Student Awards (Korea University)

In the framework of the UNMDG workshop that took place from 25 to 27 September 2011 in Seoul, Korea University kindly agreed to give 6 student awards for best UNMDG initiative presentations. Students were invited to present their work during one session of the workshop that took place on Tuesday 27 September from 09:00 to 12:00. Winning students were awarded with 500 US$.

2011 U21 UNMDG Student Awards:
